Cohen New Works Festival: Assistant Technical Director

From Spring 2020 through Spring 2021, I served as the Assistant Technical Director for the Cohen New Works Festival, a festival produced biennially by students at The University of Texas at Austin. The 2021 Festival featured 33 new works by UT students across the College of Fine Arts, with projects including fields such as dance, theatre, music, and many hybrids, all with the unique task of creating art for a world in the midst of a pandemic. As such, as much of the theatre has turned virtual, and we are working on further integrating technology into our systems. In addition to sitting on the Festival’s Executive Comittee, I am working closely with the Technical Director and Production Managers to coordinate all technical (and technological) aspects of this iteration of the Festival - one without precedent. It was a brand new Festival for a brand new world, and I cannot wait to continue to help my colleagues create new and exciting art!
